Over 80,000 motorsport fans will flock to the Birmingham NEC on 12th-15th January 2012 for Autosport International, the world’s greatest motorsport show.
For more than two decades, Autosport International has welcomed the brightest stars and fastest cars in global motorsport, and the upcoming show is no exception.
Nine of the NEC’s exhibition halls will be packed with priceless displays from the biggest marques in the business. Ariel, BMW, Ginetta, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Radical have already confirmed their attendance, with even more priceless supercars on show at Autosport International’s dedicated Performance Car Show: powered by PistonHeads.com.
There will also be a major presentation of the kit car industry in the Complete Kit Car magazine Hand Built British Sports Car Pavilion. Among the exhibitors are GKD Sports Cars, JBA Motors, Hawk Cars, MK Sportscars, Raw, Roadrunner Racing and RTM. SDR Sportscars will be on show both in the Pavilion and in the exciting Live Action Arena. Other kit car companies, including Toniq and RTR, will be on show in other parts of the show.
Elsewhere, there will be displays of thoroughbred racing cars, from irreplaceable classics to cutting-edge machinery. Highlights include the F1 Racing Grid, an exhibition of contemporary Grand Prix cars, and special tribute displays featuring vehicles raced by Ayrton Senna and British rally heroes.
It’s not just about the cars, however, as Autosport International 2012 will feature interviews and autograph signings from some of Britain’s biggest motorsport personalities. F1 anchorman Jake Humphrey will return to Birmingham on the Saturday, accompanied by his co-presenter, former Grand Prix star turned DTM German Touring Car racer David Coulthard.
The newest home-grown talent on the F1 grid, Force India’s Paul Di Resta, will also be attending, along with former F1 stars Allan McNish, now a multiple sportscar champion with Audi, and 1980 World Champion Australia’s Alan Jones.
The show would not be complete without a dose of high octane racing to thrill fans, which is provided at the Live Action Arena, the UK’s largest indoor race track. Spectators will be treated to breath-taking performances including an FIA Formula Two Championship demonstration by the 2011 McLaren Autosport BRDC Award winner, United Autosports’ new McLaren MP4-12C GT3 car, Formula Jedi, National Autograss Class 7s, BriSCA F2 stock cars and a Maxxis British Drift Championship display by Boyzone singer Shane Lynch.
Autosport International also offers visitors the chance to experience powerslides, doughnuts and supreme car control with passenger rides in a Caterham Seven. The Karting Pavillion, located in Hall 4, will also be hosting arrive-and-drive sessions for aspiring Jenson Buttons and Lewis Hamiltons!
