The final kit car show of 2011 promises several exciting new car launches.
CKC takes a sneak peak at what to expect.

THE GREAT WESTERN Kit and Car Builder show is your last chance in 2011 to see what all the manufacturers have been up
to over the last twelve months. It’s also your last easy opportunity to buy those vital widgets and wotnots to keep you
moving in the garage over the winter, with this year’s event being held over the weekend of 22nd/23rd October.

NEW CARS
MEV Exocet – A new lightweight version of the Exocet can be seen for the first time at Exeter, not only offered with lightweight
chassis, but also discarding the MX-5 subframes which are retained in the standard car.

RTM La Bala – We are looking forward to seeing this car. The La Bala was first developed in the States, but it’s now available
in a UK spec via RTM. The car’s based on components harvested from the Toyota MR2, but engine options also include the
Vauxhall 1.6-litre turbo engine currently used by Westfield. It’s a belter.

Sammio – We’re big fans of the existing Sammio Spyder, but word on the grapevine suggests there are some exciting new
models in the pipeline. Will they be at Exeter?

Dragon Electric Vehicles – The clue’s in the name! This company specialises in electric power, and it’ll have a zero emissions Vindicator Sprint at the show. Is this the future for the kit car industry? Could be.

Scoobybits V-Storm – West Country based Scoobybits has just built its first SDR V-Storm demo car, since becoming a South West agent for the company. Expect an aggressive look, and lots of power.

Voodou Auto Kits – We know very little about this brand new company, but the website tells us that it has spent the last year redeveloping the Haynes Roadster concept to accept Mazda MX-5 donor components. Interesting.

Outside displays
The date move to earlier in the year means more privately owned cars outside, and that’s great news. There’s a good club display area at the Exeter show and it’s also alongside one of the event’s other established highlights, the Westfield slalom experience. This is always worth watching or, if you haven’t already, book yourself in for a passenger ride.
